#378 – Spotlight on Hefner
This week we turn our spotlight on Lee Jones aka Hefner. Back in the nineties he made ambient (together with Fink) and drum’n’bass, but in ’98 he released the An Evening With Hefner 12″, laying the foundation for his signature downtempo sound. He went on to release the acclaimed album Residue and the remix collection Reworks, and in 2004 he produced the debut album of vocalist Josée Hurlock. After that he focussed more and more on house music with a slew of releases on Aus Music and Playhouse. For years now there have been rumors about a second Hefner album, but we didn’t wait for it to give you an overview of the Hefner era! To warm up for the mix, we inserted a bunch of harps and jazz.

loved the Hefner part! what is he doing now?
ah, Hefner.
Long time no hear from that part of the woods.
Residue is one of my favorite albums and I’ve been waiting for the proper followup for years. I heard that the Josee album was actually supposed to be his 2nd album, but for whatever reason it was released as Josee’s debut.
He’s been doing house since, under Lee Jones and MyMy (among others).
If anyone is looking for more Hefner stuff, he also produced Abraham’s album “Blue for the Most” back in 2002.
Anyone have a download link for this mix? I’m traveling and my podcasts weren’t keeping up with the flaky internet connections.
@Dustin There’s no download button on Mixcloud unfortunately, but if you’re a bit tech-savvy you can find the direct link to the mp3. This particular mp3 should be here, although that URL may only work temporarily.
@lensco Awesome thanks for the link! Worked great. I did a google to see if I could track down a way, but didn’t have any success. Much appreciated.
